Carolina Wells is an underwater photographer and dive instructor focused in cave and technical diving, based in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Originally from Spain, her love for diving began while diving the wrecks in Malta. Captivated by the underwater world, she decided to stay and turn what began as a passion into a profession: underwater photography.
During her years living in the Maltese archipelago, she developed her skills both as a photographer and as a technical diver, capturing wrecks, underwater landscapes, and caverns, all while working as a scuba instructor.
Over three years ago, she moved to the Riviera Maya in Mexico, drawn by the region’s unique opportunities for cave diving. Since then, she has been documenting everything she could, from the depths of the cave systems to extraordinary encounters in the open ocean.
Her work combines exploration with visual storytelling, aiming to capture the atmosphere and challenges of diving in extreme environments. With a strong aesthetic sensibility and a deep technical understanding, Carolina has established herself as a visual narrator of the underwater world — always seeking the next place to document to share it with the world.
